Dear Colin
We’ve checked the payment process and, as far as we know, everything is running properly.
The “MedSailing” word that appears in the credit card information is the name for one of our regattas. We asked the bank about that and also why is appearing this name instead of CN El Balís.
I’ll try to give you more information about that.
Many thanks for your communication and sorry if any damage can be caused.Maria Güell
El BalisGBR-61KeymasterThanks of the price info, I will be writing again to the insurance companies and the RYA for an explanation and to see if we can negotiate a class discounted rate. The increase may be due to the boat being placed in a higher insurance group, as has been the FD class. Will post more info when we have it.

BFAGBR-61KeymasterHi Phil
Is it a Needlespar boom?
Thanks
John
GBR-61KeymasterForecast is looking perfect for the weekend, so don’t miss the RYA ranker at Mengeham Rythe. A reminder that the first race start is 10 am on Saturday so boats will need to ready to go afloat by 9.15 at latest. The bar will be open at club on Friday night from 8 pm. If you are camping or bringing camper van please let me know in advance. Breakfast will be available at club before racing on Saturday. Food will also be available after racing with curry in bar on Saturday evening.
Competitors are welcome to leave boats at the club the following week to join in racing on Good Friday which is open to all BFA members with 3 races scheduled.

Michaeldec48@aol.com23rd February 2017 at 8:39 am in reply to: BFA 2017 events calendar & Travellers Trophy series #2573GBR-61KeymasterHi Mike
It would be great to have a Northern Event if we can find a willing host Club. I will ask the Sailing Secretary: Secretary@Finnuk.org to look into it or please could you contact him directly if you have a suitable venue in mind?
Many thanks
JohnGBR-61KeymasterSadly this training day is now cancelled due to the funeral taking place that day of BFA member Mike Till , in Cowes. Many off those originally planning to attend the event will want to be at the service so we have decided to cancel the training. I hope you will understand.
JohnGBR-61KeymasterNext up in the Traveller Series is the West Kirby open and Masters Championship. West Kirby provided a great venue and very warm welcome when the Finn fleet last visited 2 years ago, and this time are guaranteeing loads of great racing by using both the estuary and marine lake race courses, ensuring plenty of racing whatever the wind conditions.
Enter here now before the cut-off date of 25th August here – entry fee of £50 includes two buffets lunches and Saturday evening meal.Entries after the 25th will be charged £60.
Accommodation, there are B&Bs in West Kirby or the Holiday Inn Express or the Greenlodge pub opposite in nearby Hoylake (Bike distance all flat roads about 1.5 mile from WKSC). Download the full list of recommended accommodation here. Campers can be parked at the club by prior arrangement.
SI’s will be posted on the WKSC website and on the event calendar after Wednesday 17th
GBR-61KeymasterShoreShift don’t now sound to be going and Boat Deliveries in Emsworth have one full trailer but will put on a second one if they can fill it with 6 boats @ £650 each. Presently they have interest from 2 people but finding another 4 is unlikely at this stage.
I am also looking for a trailer berth down to Garda, so please will anyone still looking for transport contact me asap on Chairman@finnuk.org.uk and I will see what we can sort out between us.
Thanks

GBR-61KeymasterYes, The Inland Champs is at Draycote in October but there is also a Traveller Series and RYA Ranker at Alton Water on April 16/17th, as per the calendar – look forward to seeing you there!
GBR-61KeymasterTo kick-start the debate, my personal thoughts are that maybe the term ‘Finn Junior’ seems a bit out of date and somewhat demeaning, especially if the age group moves to Under 23. The fact is a 20-23 yr old Finn sailor is likely to be far more athletic and able than the rest of us, plus the recent research proves they are starting younger, so to use a term that suggest their level of competition is below that of the seniors seems wrong and in brand marketing terms is under-selling the product. I would rather see it called the ‘Under 23 Championship’, as you would in Rugby or hockey, and which suggests it is the highest level of competition at that age group. An 18 year old that then gets into the ‘Under 23’ squad would then be chuffed as he would be competing in a higher age group.
If the IFA is thinking of changing the age range then I think they have a great opportunity to re-brand the product and make it more appealing to the younger Finn sailor who might not wish to be branded a ‘Junior’? That could well raise the level of attendances at the Silver Cup which requires a minimum entry of 30 to count as a world championship.
Under 23 members please get in touch and tell us your views!
Thanks
JohnGBR-61KeymasterHi Ian
A good suggestion – there has been a lot of activity on boat sales recently which is why a few sold ads might still be appearing but I will have a clear up shortly.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Finn fleet and send me a pm if you need any advice buying boats.
GBR-61KeymasterNow sold and donation made.
Thanks for the interestGBR-61KeymasterHi Peter
There is a Frostbite Series at Mengeham, which you could easily access from HISC that we were thinking of asking the Juniors along to. with proper laid courses in the harbour. They are alternate Sundays, 1st, 15th, 29th Nov, 13th Dec and the 28th Dec. We could attach some training to that if there was a demand. You can email be at Chairman@finnuk.org.uk to discuss.Cheers
JohnGBR-61KeymasterHi Simon
There was a good triangle / sausage/ triangle course at the Thorpe Bay Open last weekend that you would have enjoyed, in warm and sunny conditions with a perfect 14 knots on Sunday.
The courses vary with each host club so the answer is to join in the Travellers Series to enjoy the full range of venues and courses the series has to offer.
Many thanks to the TBYC organisers and race officers for fitting in all 6 races and for a great meal on Saturday night! (We won’t mention the rugby….)

GBR-61KeymasterHi Keith
A common problem, particularly where different materials meet. I was recommended candle wax which seems to work for a while.Cheers
