A very enjoyable weekend was had at the Solway Finn Open and also the Scottish Championships, over the 25-26th May. Congratulations to the overall winner John Mackie, followed by David Kitchen, Stewart Mitchell, Keith Veasey, and Scott McColm. Very light conditions on Saturday and 6-9 knots on Sunday with a great social Saturday. Shame not many travellers made it but a grand weekend with the team and the host club. Unfortunately the timing of the Solway TT event was too close to the Finn World Masters for some regular travellers but we will all make a big effort to visit Solway next year and enjoy the great racing in such a scenic location and with such an impressive backdrop.

John Mackie commented. “It was great to come to Solway again this year. The organisation, the assistance of all the volunteers and the friendly welcome were all great. In some challenging conditions with virtually no wind the race committee managed to get two races in on Saturday. With low expectations for Sunday we went out and it was great to see a little wind when we arrived at the sailing area. Again the race committee got two races completed. Along side the warm welcome the team in the galley produced some wonderful food that I would have happily enjoyed in a restaurant. All in all a great weekend and hope to come back in 2025.”

The fabulous, unique Finn trophies were crafted by Louise Allen and many thanks to Stewart Mitchell for organising the regatta.
