John Torrance – The BFA is very sad to report the sudden death of John Torrance on Wednesday 19th. John collapsed whilst out to dinner and efforts to revive him failed. John was a hugely enthusiastic Finn sailor, a class measurer and had been working hard to grow the Finn fleet around his local area in Burnham-On-Crouch. A flag officer of Creeksea SC and an organiser of Burnham Week, John recently arranged a Finn Class start in Burnham Week and was always on hand to offer advice and help to fellow Finn sailors. We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Julie and sons.
There will be a family funeral service at Chelmsford crematory, followed by a Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s Church Burnham-On-Crouch at 12.30 on 15th November to which all are welcome, after which there will be a reception at Burnham SC. Please indicate on this forum post if you are likely to attend, to give the family an idea of numbers.
All his friends are very welcome to attend the crematorium service, the service of remembrance and the wake, but it would be helpful to have an indication of numbers attending the wake at the BSC for catering purposes via Julie Torrance on 01621 783 145 or j.torrance@live.co.uk or via commodore@burnhamsc.co.uk
Family flowers ONLY but donations can be made in memory of John to The British Heart Foundation or the RNLI via http://www.pauljking.com or Paul J King, 10 Station Road, Burnham on Crouch, CM0 8BG
Thank you
