The International Finn Class is holding their AGM at the Europeans in Athens in May and the agenda is now published here Note the reports to download are not yet available, but should be soon.

The BFA is keen to ensure our members voices are heard, particularly on the future of the Finn Class when it is likely to cease being an Olympic Class after Paris 2020. We are also keen to learn exactly where and how the BFA’s affiliation fee to IFA is currently spent and do all countries pay the same?- a question we have been asking for some time….

Please let your Committee know your views – should there be an International Finn league set up with big sponsor prize money to replace the Olympic circuit, like the Star Sailors League? Will this help to retain our top pro sailors and serve to inspire more Under 23 ‘s to enter the class?

What new initiatives should the IFA consider bringing in to support Finn sailing worldwide, given that most of the current efforts have gone into supporting emerging Nations in an effort to retain the Olympic slot?

Masters sailing is thriving, but how can we continue to attract youngsters to the class without the lure of potential Olympic competition?

Will the international circuit of events collapse if the Finn is no longer an Olympic Class, i.e. Palma, Miami, Hyerés etc

Let us know your thoughts by starting a discussion here, or email Chairman@finnuk.org.uk
