Gold Cup / Fantastica

What an amazing Gold Cup. Obviously great for Giles & Team GBR and I thought Robert Deaves emails & youtube videos were easily the best of any dinghy class that I know of. Interesting, slick, well informed. I don’t think it could have been done much better. It made me want to go sailing ! The coverage was so good that it made it easy to see how the fleet has shifted to the Devoti Fantastica. I counted 9 out of the top 10 to be Fantasticas. In fact the first non-Fantastica was 10th. Do people think that this was just a new boat phenomenon, related to the venue or are we headed for another Vanguard moment ?

Certainly looks that way in the gold cup pictures I’ve seen – fantasticas everywhere! I do wonder if the cut-away gunwhales might just be a great marketing ploy as you can’t help noticing the fantasticas whereas it’s much more difficult to work out which make the other boats are.
